Dance Shoe Policy
If it is your first time in the studio, you may bring your own shoes and change into them. If you decide you want to continue your dance education, this policy will apply. The Mambo Room Dance Shoe Policy applies to all dance and fitness classes.
Dance shoes are an important part of dancing. They are the necessary equipment for the sport. When at the gym, you wear sneaker shoes, when at the dance studio you wear dance shoes. Dance shoes protect you from injury and help to support your foot in the right places. If you need help with sizing or fitting a proper dance shoe, please stop by the studio. Always remember that jazz shoes are available as a cheaper alternative to dance shoe. A clean pair of tennis shoes is acceptable for fitness classes, but we recommend dance sneakers.
Also, dirt especially grit, poses a danger to the dance floor; it would be irresponsible for a dance studio with a clean, smooth floor not to have a such a policy. The presence of grit will not only wear the surface, but large particles in small crevices on textured soles will catch and make deep scratches. Dirt eventually ruins the floor. Unfortunately high heels from street shoes also pose a problem causing holes and scratches on the wood that can be avoided by professional dance shoes. PLEASE BRING CLEAN DANCE SHOES IN HAND RATHER THAN ON YOUR FEET, AND CHANGE SHOES BEFORE YOU ENTER THE DANCE AREA.
Did you know that your dance shoe should fit as snug as a sock? Ladies did you know your toes should come right to the edge of the shoe and sometimes even hang over 1/4 inch? The Mambo Room staff is committed to building a dance community, keeping our dancers safe by ensuring a dirt free undamaged floor, and correctly sizing all shoes for our customers. See shoe selection.
