AFRO CUBAN DANCE WORKSHOP
The workshop will focus on the sacred African dances of Cuba- the root of Cuban popular style. We will dance for the orishas- Ellegua, Yemaya and Oya. We will also close with some Rumba. The workshop is intended to celebrate the folkloric music, song and dance of Afro Cuban people.
Instructor: Ifé Milligan - Originally from St. Croix , Virgin Islands and of Puerto Rican heritage, Ife began studying Afro- Cuban dance in 1997 in New York City. She studied with master teachers, Richard Gonzalez, Ricardo Colon and Xiomara. In 2001, she continued her study of Afro- Cuban/ Orisha Dance in Washington DC, with master teacher, Oscar Rousseaux. She performed with " Ochunmare" in NYC and " Ache- Moyubba Folkloric Ensemble", in Washington DC.
